Maca Latte

When I think of having a hot drink the first thought goes straight to coooffeee! well yes I am a true Catalan and we thrive on coffee, but I am also aware of the effects that has on me, and I now recognise that, too much coffee it’s a no go territory, particularly after lunch.

So my to go drink is this delicious one, with a lot of  Health benefits attached! (1)

Maca is considered an “adaptogen” basically helping the body adapt to stressors like a busy lifestyle, illness, stressful job…. having incredible amount of nutrients (protein, carbs, fiber… also Vitamins B, C and E, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper, Zinc, Iron and many more… Maca looks after our health in an all round manner.

Another fun factor to take into consideration when having Maca is that it’s a well known aphrodisiac and used to help with fertility in men and women.

Being a hormone balancer, booster for the immune system, improving sexual functions… I think it’s a win win situation with this incredible root!

Ok so the Maca Latte!

  • boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon Organic Maca powder
  • 1 teaspoon raw coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk or if you prefer Almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Raw Cacao (optional)

Dissolve  the Maca Powder with half a cup of boiling water. Then add some coconut oil. Add then half a cup of coconut milk, and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix well making sure all the powder is dissolved. You can sprinkle some Raw cacao on top to make it a Macaccino! Just an idea! 🙂

The flavour is very nutty, earthy. It reminds me of a traditional Spanish drink made with tiger nuts called ‘horchata’.

I think with the combination of this ingredients enhances the flavour of Maca.

I hope you enjoy your latte!
